Good morning, it’s Monday, Nov. 29, 2021. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. It was a too-brief respite from COVID, wasn’t it? The good feeling of the holiday, coupled with optimism over news that coronavirus deaths had declined in the United States to below 1,000 a day, lasted less than 48 hours. Over the weekend, news spread quickly about a new variant of the virus, Omicron, that had spread rapidly across sub-Saharan Africa.
